Weingut Ansgar Clüsserath is a historic, family-owned winery located in the village of Trittenheim in Germany’s renowned Mosel wine region. Founded in 1670, the estate has remained in the Clüsserath family for generations and today is led by winemaker Eva Clüsserath-Wittmann, who continues the family’s deep tradition of Riesling cultivation. The winery farms steep, slate-rich vineyards—many with vines up to 100 years old—producing wines that express the mineral-driven character of the Mosel. With meticulous hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation using natural yeasts, and long aging in traditional Mosel fuder (large oak barrels), the wines are known for their precision, elegance, and remarkable aging potential. While Riesling is the estate’s primary focus, small amounts of other varieties are also grown, all crafted with a philosophy that balances centuries-old techniques with thoughtful modern practices.
