The Chiaromonte family has been dedicated to the production of great wines from Puglia since their foundation in 1826, nearly 200 years ago. In recent years, Nicola Chiaromonte, as 4th generation owner and winemaker, has worked hard to expand and improve the quality of their wines to reach internationally recognized standards of the highest quality. A specialist in the Primitivo variety, all of their vines are bush-trained in the ancient, free-standing style known as alberello. As of 2009, all of the vineyards are certified organic. Nicola makes all of his wines exclusively in stainless steel in order to preserve the pure fruit flavors. The grapes are destemmed, then fed by gravity into tanks were they are left to ferment in whole clusters with their own yeasts before they are crushed in hand-cranks presses.
